NEWS DERBY recently secured an exclusive conversation with Indian High Commissioner to Canada, Dinesh K Patnaik, to discuss the state of bilateral relations between Canada and India and also his impressions of the Canadian landscape. High Commissioner Patnaik offered encouraging insights into the improvements currently underway in the relations between Canada and India. He emphasized the strong foundation provided by the Canadian populace, noting that the people of Canada are excellent and consistently adhere to the rule of law. However, the High Commissioner acknowledged that the path forward is not without opposition. He stated that some individuals are resistant to the normalization and enhancement of these relations. Despite this resistance, he stressed that the progress is being firmly driven forward by the Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Indian Prime Minister Narendera Modi. Patnaik also shared his extensive travel experiences across the country, detailing visits to Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. He concluded that a unified message is resonating from every province he has visited: a strong desire to deepen engagement with India on matters of trade and economy.
