King Charles III used his Christmas Day address to highlight unity, compassion, and shared values as global conflicts and social tensions continue to affect communities worldwide.
In his fourth annual Christmas broadcast, the 77-year-old monarch said diversity should be a source of strength, stressing that common values can help ensure “right triumphs over wrong.” He noted that his meetings with people of different faiths have reinforced a shared desire for peace and respect for life.
The message, recorded at Westminster Abbey, also focused on kindness toward migrants and displaced people, a theme the King said remains vital in today’s world.
Following the address, a Ukrainian choir performed alongside the Royal Opera Chorus, underscoring the King’s continued support for Ukraine. Charles has hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy several times this year, most recently in October.
The King also praised military veterans and humanitarian workers for their courage and resilience. He referenced a historic visit to the Vatican in October, where he prayed with Pope Leo — the first such joint worship by a British monarch and a Catholic pope in nearly 500 years.
The address came during a challenging year for the Royal Family, marked by health concerns and family tensions, but also a rare moment of reconciliation between the King and Prince Harry.
